Alesso, Ty Dolla $ign bridge house and R&B on long-awaited crossover, ‘Caught A Body’

Rewind the calendar to exactly one year prior. Alesso and Ty Dolla $ign had taken to Twitter to drop the bomb that multiple collaborations between them were in the works. But that was where the update timeline had come to a halt for the time being. That was until Miami Music Week approached—however—when Alesso would make his annual trip to Bayfront Park. And about an hour before he wrapped a bow on his Ultra set with an outro rendition of “Calling (Lose My Mind),” he introduced it with an ID with vocals that were instantaneously linked to Ty Dolla $ign—who has already matched up with the likes of Swedish House Mafia, Tiësto, Skrillex, and more—with the general consensus now being that it’s the VIP version of their first-ever crossover, “Caught A Body.”

“Caught A Body” breaks somewhat of a release intermission for Alesso after finally unlocking one of Dancing Astronaut‘s Top Tracks of 2022 this past October. And while Alesso has dipped his production toes beyond the strictly dance music space time and time again—working besides names like Florida Georgia Line, Charlotte Lawrence, Zara Larsson, and more—a dance-R&B hybrid remained unchecked on his genre release board. But that stylistic territory goes from untapped to explored with “Caught A Body,” with Alesso freely deepening his range once more on a picture-perfect half-and-half between a lightly slowed-down, brooding house profile and Ty Dolla $ign’s earworm-certified lyrical touch. While we’ll have to wait and see what the fate for the “Caught A Body” VIP from Ultra is—with Alesso typically updating originals about a month or so later—stream the original mix in all its glory below.
