Consisting of composer-pianist Henna Helasvuo and producer-sound designer Lasse Turunen, the duo delves into a captivating audiovisual realm, inviting listeners to experience their unique sonic tapestries.

Their latest single, “Station in Flames,” showcases their affinity for electronic music, incorporating elements of deep house and electronica into their sound. The track exhibits a coherent energy that defines their artistic style, while their meticulous attention to sound design shines through.

At the center of Pihka Is My Name is the animated character, Pihka, symbolizing an obsolete imaginary friend. Through their music, the duo offers a glimpse into an extraordinary journey, presenting the world from the perspective of this ethereal companion.

With their innovative approach to music production and boundary-pushing compositions, Pihka Is My Name is carving a unique space within the electronic music scene, captivating audiences with their intricate soundscapes and pushing the limits of sonic exploration.

“We’d been wanting to see Jon Hopkins live for a while, and this year it finally happened! In a very inspired state, we wrote this distorted, hauntingly relentless beat. The synth line was written and performed live, with Henna on a vintage synth and Lasse on effects pedals. Henna’s brother Artturi Aalto played an additional layer of moodyness on his cello. On our gigs, Lasse’s emotional reverb-soaked falsetto is an important instrument, so we wanted to have some of it on the record as well. While we feel our synth sounds are very lively, it never hurts to have a human voice amidst them. The song is meditative and energetic at the same time,” Pihka Is My Name said of the single.
