Yves V and Sem Thomasson tie a deep groove to the ‘Sound Of A Beating Heart’
Returning for their respective 5th and 2nd stints on Alok’s CONTROVERSIA label, Belgian producers Yves V and Sem Thomasson are spinning magic once again with their latest release – the intriguingly emotive “Sound Of A Beating Heart.” This isn’t the first time we’ve seen the dynamism between Yves V and Sem Thomasson. Their 2016 release, “On Top Of The World” on Spinnin’ Records, hinted at a chemistry that seems to have only been refined over time.
Their latest, a deep and progressive effort written by Nathan Nicholson of The Boxer Rebellion, doesn’t shy away from delving deep or switching gears. The first act leads off with a blend of minimalism and organic melodies to give the vocals room to make an impact. And as “Sound Of A Beating Heart” progresses, the pair unleash a pulsating second act over rhythmic melodies partnered with a laid-back bass line.
