Pretty Pink weaves magic and mystery with new single, ‘Overrated’

Whether dabbling in deep house or nu-disco, Germany’s Pretty Pink brings intoxicating depth and atmosphere to her productions. The producer credits her background in design studies for pointing her unique aesthetic and musical taste in the right direction. That confidence helped fuel Pretty Pink forward to spots on festival stages around the world, but at her core it’s tinkering away on her own music that remains her driving force.

Pretty Pink’s latest entry into the ethereal is “Overrated,” a glittering progressive-tinged vocal track that marks her debut on Found Frequencies. The intro quickly casts its spell with warm bass and wistful vocals. A deep and dominant kick bring power and presence to the track as a synth lead bubbles and builds into a raw, crackling beat section. Descending again into an atmospheric bridge, introspective vocals are joined by a twinkling lead that brings brightness to the depths. All the elements mesh together for a hypnotic finale, putting a fitting stamp the producer’s latest gem. Pretty Pink tells Dancing Astronaut more about the song’s inception and evolution:

“‘Overrated’ is an electronic love story. From the get-go it was important to me to create a song that had a strong, driving bassline that works on the dance floor like my previous records. However, this time around I was focused on combining the bass with a thought-provoking electro synth melody that draws listeners in, but leaves enough room for vocals provided by my beautiful friend, Emina. The vocals worked with the song almost immediately and gave the track the missing element needed to complete the story.

Once I tested the track live and made the final tweaks and edits back in the studio, I realized that it would be a great fit for Found Frequencies. I immediately contacted Felix [Lost Frequencies] who I’ve known since I remixed his track “Are You With Me,” and the rest unfolded seamlessly.”
