Swedish House Mafia announce support for One Last Tour North American dates
Swedish House Mafia just revealed the full lineup for the much-anticipated North American leg of One Last Tour, and over a dozen acts have been booked to open for the global phenomenon. While New York will be treated to Pete Tong, An21, Otto Knows and Armand Van Helden's return to Madison Square Garden, the trio have nothing but love for the West Coast as well. AN21 & Max Vangeli will hit San Fransisco while Nero, Alesso, Zedd, Monsta and others will join in on LA's Masquerade Motel. If you missed out on tickets you can either head to Canada or fly south; SHM's last-ever U.S. performance will take place at this year's Ultra Music Festival.
Infected Mushroom – Friends on Mushrooms Vol. 1 EP
Israeli psytrance phenoms, Infected Mushroom are back this week with Friends On Mushrooms Vol. 1, a four track EP released through Dim Mak. Though their sound has evolved from hardcore to psytrance to dubstep and hit several genres in between, Duvdev and Erez prove they’re still fully capable of infecting fans with this latest release. The duo teamed up with Hope 6 on opening track “Where Do I Belong,” a dubby reggae tune sounding nothing like moombahton but somehow more relevant. “Bass Nipple” hits next and sounds exactly like what you’d expect from an electro house Infected track; grimy, melodic, and mind-melting. Their collaboration with Astrix, “Astrix on Mushrooms,” is as close to classic psy-trance as the evolved band is likely to get and “Mambacore” channels the beloved glitch-hop elements of Army of Mushrooms into a charmingly psychedelic trip through hi hats snares and off tempo kicks.
W&W & Ummet Ozcan – The Code (Original Mix) [Preview]
Coming off the high of year that put them on the map and all over it, genre-blending W&W have wasted no time in setting the stage for an even bigger 2013. On the heels of yesterday’s announcement that they would join Armin van Buuren on ASOT 600 NYC comes a preview for their latest track, “The Code.” The duo again teamed up with Ummet Ozcan on the track, giving it their signature big room sound, punchy synths and relentless drops. Already dropped in Hardwell's Essential Mix, the track will be released February 4 on Revealed Records.
Bontan – The Revolution (Umek Remix)
Hot off of Kraftek’s latest release is Umek’s remix of Bontan’s “The Revolution.” The track dropped this week as part of Bontan’s debut “Hit It From The Back” EP. While not much is known about the British producer, tech house is definitely his bag. His “The Revolution” has a driving, bouncing bassy house beat and a groovy vocal sample from Boogie Down Production’s “Exhibit F.” Umek’s remix takes the tech house a little deeper, throws in some drums and a bit more energy but still keeps the groove going. The track and the rest of Bontan’s EP are now available on Beatport.
Dimitri Vegas, Moguai & Like Mike – Mammoth (Original Mix) [Preview]
Coming on the heels of the Tommorowland ticket announcement is a preview from Belgium’s own Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike. The boisterous duo teamed up with German house producer Moguai on “Mammoth,” a suitable name for the massive production from the unlikely trio. The progressive house track eases into a four on the floor beat, throwing in Moguai’s signature tonal sounds and a jump-ready Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike build. Tomorrowland fans have already caught a listen from the festival’s official aftermovie; for everyone else the track will be released March 4 through Spinnin’ Records.
