Dancing Astronaut presents Behind The Lens, our favorite moments through the eyes of our photographers
Dancing Astronaut's photographers are constantly behind the scenes, keeping a visual record of the dance music explosion as it continues to grow and evolve. This year alone our photographers attended over 100 events, took over 75,000 photos, and delighted (or possibly embarrassed) some of our fans in the front row. From coast to coast and across the Atlantic, the Dancing Astronaut team did the not-so-dirty work of getting backstage and up close with some of the biggest artists and events of 2012.
Dirty South & Thomas Gold ft. Kate Elsworth – Eyes Wide Open (Lenno Remix)
You all know the saying "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." Normally, you don't meddle with things that are successful, you stay the course and inherently know that the outcome will be positive. The original mix of "Eyes Wide Open" was great, it was heard everywhere and had that punch line that every good vocal song has - "close my eyes, I'm next to you." Along comes Lenno, out of relative obscurity, to make a very good track into something that is effing brilliant
Marco Carola releases free download of Amnesia Ibiza closing set in five parts
Italian producer-savant Marco Carola is tickling techno fans around the world with the five part download of his larger-than-life closing set at Amnesia Ibiza this past summer. Although a live Marco Carola set is a completely irreplaceable experience, we're hoping this will give you an idea of the odyssey he and the newly formed Music On family is able to curate. Forget tracklists -- just close your eyes and plug yourself in. Yesterday we got part one, and he released part two earlier today. Keep checking back (maybe once a day) for the three other segments of the set.
Good Morning Mix – Sasha Live At kaZantip Opening (7/31/2012)
If you haven't heard of kaZantip by now you have probably been living under a rock. This 6 week long party on the Crimean peninsula in Ukraine has been hailed as the most decadent dance music experience in the world. At this year's kaZantip, Sasha opened the infamous event with an immaculately crafted performance that set the stage for the rest of the "festival." (Can you really call a 6 week long dance party a festival? I'm not really sure.) So turn the volume up, close your eyes, lean back in your uncomfortable office chair, and let Sasha's smooth groove transport you to kaZantip - then book your flight for next year.
