Amirali and Felix da Housecat share decks for special live Essential Mix
This past week on the weekly twelve-hour dance music marathon (which as many of you know includes shows from Annie Mac, Pete Tong, Skream & Benga, and Annie Nightingale), Radio 1 also decided to throw a bit of a curveball for the Essential Mix, presenting both Amirali and Felix da Housecat for dual live hour-long sets recorded in the BBC Radio 1 studio.
Good Morning Mix – Brodinski FabricLive 60 Radio Mix
It's no secret that here at Dancing Astronaut we love us some gritty techno. Ever adoring fans of Brodinski and his Bromance crew, we bring to you this morning the Frenchman's FabricLive Radio Mix from back in 2011. The UK album series (owned and operated by the nightclub Fabric in London) rotates monthly between Fabric and FabricLive mixes -- always delivering a wide range of genres and styles of electronic music and beyond. Brodi's mixes, however, reminds us he's not easily constrained to a genre. He mixes in deep house and more radio-friendly tune just as easily and he can push an audience deep into a rabbit hole. Enjoy this one, and if you're lucky enough maybe you can even pop by and see the Bromance Night at Le Bain in Manhattan tonight. Click through for a full tracklist.
Dancing Astronaut’s Top 25 Underground Artists of 2012: 15-6
The underground had a big year in the US in 2012 and we only felt it appropriate to highlight some of these amazing artists independently from potentially bigger or more commercial artists in the dance music world today. We considered the year these artists have had in terms of production, live sets, and overall influence. We also generally picked artists we love and admire; artists we feel are extremely important to pushing electronic music forward. This list of 25 names includes legends and young guns alike, but we can assure you that every single one of these artists is incredibly talented and is well worth a listen or a trip to a club for a live set. Picking up where we left off yesterday, we will continue the countdown with our picks from #15 to the #6 spot.
