Shortly after clearing his name, Pasquale Rotella will return to court
Insomniac CEO Pasquale Rotella will return to court on July 29th, shortly after a ruling on July 12th threw out the charges that he and another promoter had been involved in a kickback scheme with officials from the Los Angeles Coliseum, the former site of the spearhead Electric Daisy Carnival. Las Vegas Weekly reports that the new and separate charges that "he diverted $2.5 million in funds from the LA Coliseum into the pockets of city officials to stage Electric Daisy Carnival there before its move to Vegas in 2011." If he is found guilty of these charges, he faces fourteen years in prison. As far as plans for EDC Las Vegas 2014 go, an anonymous Las Vegas Motor Speedway official commented that "there’s no reason the event wouldn’t go on, no matter what happens. Plans for 2014 are set to go forward either way."
Nicky Romero announces Nothing Toulouse North American Tour dates
Because dominance on some of the world's biggest festival stages over the summer isn't quite enough for the young Dutch DJing superstar, Nicky Romero has announced his latest tour "Nothing Toulouse" for the United States and Canada, scheduled for a month-long, later summer stay on the continent between Saturday, August 31st and Sunday, September 29th. He'll be starting in San Diego, moving through Vegas, Ottawa, Montreal, Toronto, Puerto Rico, Boston, Philly, DC, Texas, and ending at the first-ever TomorrowWorld outside of Atlanta. Nicky will be supported by upcoming Dutch duo Vicetone and given his own stage to shine throughout this tour, he will no doubt live up to the endless hype associated with his name.
Lawsuit against Pasquale Rotella dropped
Charges against Pasquale Rotella, founder of Insomniac, as well as Reza Gerami of Go Ventures and ex-Coliseum events manager Todd DeStefano, have been dismissed by a local judge. L.A. Superior Court Judge Terry A. Green threw out the remaining charges against the three defendants, after the parts of the suit were stricken down last year.
