Good Morning Mix – Sander van Doorn makes his Essential Mix debut in 2006
Back in 2006 the dance music landscape was much different than it is today. Still a decidedly underground experience in the US, many of today's biggest artists were delivering sets that would shock and disappoint the festival crowds of 2013. I concede the point that it's most likely a purely subjective opinion, that nothing much has changed in the scene except for my age and my perspective. Then I listen to Sander Van Doorn's 2006 Essential Mix debut and I start to think otherwise. Call it the nostalgia for a simpler time, but simplicity is the one thing that Sander's mix was not - like many of his contemporaries did in 2006, Sander paid no mind to the trends of the time and instead defined them for himself, delivering a set that stands the test of time as a flawless representation of dance music at the start of its US rebirth. With early cuts from Dada Life, Ferry Corsten and even Steve Angello, Sander's Essential Mix is a two hour snapshot of the honest creativity and style that defined the scene seven years ago.
Listen to ‘Zombies in Love’ and win a pair of tickets to EDC NY from the Manufactured Superstars
Spacesuit-wearing duo, The Manufactured Superstars deliver another bouncy pop house outing with "Zombies in Love." Enlisting the help of anthemic choral lines and sugary-sweet piano rolls, "Zombies in Love" is much brighter than the name suggests, generating a feel good peak time vibe with driven percussion and catchy progressions. Scheduled to be released on April 9th, the remix package for "Zombies in Love" switches its focus off of 'love' and onto 'zombies' featuring bass driven and disemboweled versions of the feel good original. K Theory, AC Slater and Jaz von D all take their turns with the mix, creating three remixes that utilize throaty bass and gritty synthwork to transform the vibe into something deliciously sinister.
Sebastian Ingrosso and Tommy Trash’s ‘Reload’ vocal mix premiered as Pete Tong’s Essential New Tune
Sebastian Ingrosso and Tommy Trash's "Reload" vocal mix has been premiered by Pete Tong as his Essential New Tune. The tandem call on John Martin to replicate the singing he's produced on "Save The World" and "Don't You Worry Child," and he takes he title literally for the song's lyrics.

The Do Lab releases Lightning in a Bottle 2013 lineup
Lightning in a Bottle may be one of the coolest American festivals you've yet to hear about. Taking place in Southern California, the multi-day festival is akin to a mix of Burning Man's community with Boulder, Colorado's music scene. Known for its glitch-hop and downtempo-driven lineups, countless art exhibits, yoga sessions and theatrical performances, the Do Lab's full-fledged festival is a one-of-a-kind experience.
Sultan & Ned Shepard and Nervo – Army (Tom Swoon Remix)
After enlisting the vocal talents of Omarion, Sultan & Ned Shepard and Nervo delivered their powerful pop-house crossover, "Army" back in February. A month later enters Tom Swoon, the Polish producer responsible for the hit "Not Too Late," giving the radio-friendly original a jolt of big room adrenaline. Swoon does well to manage the original's melodies while wrenching on some thunder of his own, marching "Army" into anthemic territory with a festival-friendly aesthetic.
Electric Daisy Carnival New York announces its 2013 lineup
EDC NY 2013 returns to the tri-state area for two days in May, relocating from New Jersey's Met Life Stadium to an official New York location at Citi Field. The festival's second foray into the Northeast market has been scaled back to a two-day affair but will likely feature more of the over-the-top atmosphere than it did in its inaugural outing. Phase 1 of the festival's lineup has just been announced, featuring Calvin Harris, Eric Prydz, Afrojack, Porter Robinson, Dirty South, Carl Cox, Damian Lazarus and more. Interestingly enough, Empire of the Sun is also listed - bringing a live performance element to the festival in 2013.
