Seven Lions captivates the imagination at Give Back festival, offers commentary on set
Jeff Montalvo, or Seven Lions as his stage name goes, has proved to be one of OWSLA's most promising new talents. Ten must see veterans at Ultra Music Festival 2013
Over the course of its two weekends, there are nearly 300 artists performing at Ultra Music Festival this year. In 2013, the festival is celebrating its 15th anniversary as dance music's most celebrated occasion and the season's highly anticipated kick off. In that period of time, the lineup has changed a lot -- not just in scope but also in sound -- but there are names that remain pillars of Miami's greatest electronic music tradition. These are names who've been at it longer than many of us have been walking and they deserve not just a tip of the hat, but also your time and attention at their impending Ultra sets. How will we know where we're going if we don't know where we've been?
Essential Mix Review: Mat Zo takes us on a journey through the electronic cosmos
Following up an Essential Mix from the legendary Eric Prydz is no easy task, but if there's anyone to do it, it's 23 year old Matan Zohar, or Mat Zo. Mat Zo's two hour essential mix is an experimental tour de force in the art of genre fusion and progression, and of the best BBC mixes we've heard to date.
Crazy P – Heartbreaker (Original + Remixes)
We don't talk about too much live dance musicians, but Crazy P is definitely a group not to be forgotten. The five member ensemble first banded together almost twenty years ago and in some shape or form have been creating house-disco records for the modern age ever since. The lastest effort, out this week on 2020Vision Recordings, is quite honestly one of my favorites of the year.
