Dancing Astronaut presents Axis, Episode 067: Mixed by Tom Flynn
Tom Flynn is a bit of a prolific figure in the world of house and techno these days. In 2013 alone, he's released four EPs (on Anja Schneider's Mobilee Records, Steve Lawler's Viva Music, and Nick Curly's 8Bit) and appeared on a slew of compilations and remixes -- in addition to his weighty touring schedule. His sound is difficult to bucket, but he represents everything from driving techno to slamming vocal house to tribal instrumental breaks. Tom Flynn is certainly a name worthy of the dance music world's radar, and we are very excited to welcome to our latest episode of Axis.
Good Morning Mix – Richard Knott’s March 2013 Mix
Richard Knott, the young UK producer responsible for a remix of Unicorn Kid's "Feel So Real" and "Locus Solus" off Pryda Friends, has been of interest in DA land for months now. A Pryda Friends release made me pay attention, but a piece of work like this mix this means Knott is not playing games. Quite simply, this mix is one of the most tightly mixed and well-selected collections of progressive, techno, and tech house I've ever encountered. In the last 24 hours, I've listened to it no fewer than five times.
Pan-Pot ring in the holidays with gritty White Fiction EP
There is much to be said about the German duo that makes up Pan-Pot. Since their inception in 2005, they have been forging frontward an unorthodox and experimental wave of techno. They return to Mobilee Records with a three-part installment featuring tracks of dark and intricate qualities -- straying from relentless and repetitive 4/4 patterns and instead taking the experimental route.
