Pasquale Rotella announces EDC NY to be held on Memorial Day Weekend 2014
After petitioning the town board in Saugerties NY to allow Insomniac to host a festival on the grounds of Woodstock '94, Insominac CEO Pasquale Rotella took to Facebook today to announce that EDC NY would be moving both its date and location. Now scheduled for Memorial Day Weekend 2014, New York's version of the Electric Daisy Carnival will receive a significant upgrade, taking placing over 3-days with camping and Las Vegas's owl as the center of attraction. While an official location has not been set, recent reports would indicate a possible Woodstock home for the Northeast's Electric Daisy Carnival.
Shortly after clearing his name, Pasquale Rotella will return to court
Insomniac CEO Pasquale Rotella will return to court on July 29th, shortly after a ruling on July 12th threw out the charges that he and another promoter had been involved in a kickback scheme with officials from the Los Angeles Coliseum, the former site of the spearhead Electric Daisy Carnival. Las Vegas Weekly reports that the new and separate charges that "he diverted $2.5 million in funds from the LA Coliseum into the pockets of city officials to stage Electric Daisy Carnival there before its move to Vegas in 2011." If he is found guilty of these charges, he faces fourteen years in prison. As far as plans for EDC Las Vegas 2014 go, an anonymous Las Vegas Motor Speedway official commented that "there’s no reason the event wouldn’t go on, no matter what happens. Plans for 2014 are set to go forward either way."
Lawsuit against Pasquale Rotella dropped
Charges against Pasquale Rotella, founder of Insomniac, as well as Reza Gerami of Go Ventures and ex-Coliseum events manager Todd DeStefano, have been dismissed by a local judge. L.A. Superior Court Judge Terry A. Green threw out the remaining charges against the three defendants, after the parts of the suit were stricken down last year.
Pasquale Rotella, Gary Richards, Perry Farrell talk festivals at EDMBiz Day 2
The final panel of EDMBiz Day 2 this year was owned by the festivals. With some of the world's largest festival promoters lined up on the conference's stage together, it was a bit of a rare opportunity to hear these mastermind planners speak on some of the top issues and topics of the hour -- anything from "boutique festivals" to radius clauses to sponsorships.
