Dubfire provides the soundtrack to Marquee New York’s grand re-opening
For months rumors of Marquee's triumphant return as a top tier player in NYC's nightlife have circulated through the scene. It's top secret renovations were promised to revolutionize what it meant to be a club in the Big Apple and it's talent bookings were said to focus heavily on a darker, techno aesthetic. With Strategic Management Group at the helm there should have been very little doubt that the newly renovated club would shake the foundation of nightlife in Manhattan.
Luciano’s NYD set stuns Brooklyn crowd, sets bar high for rest of 2013
The underground world in New York was chock full of choices for New Year's Eve -- Lee Burridge and Moby, Wolf + Lamb, Soul Clap, and PillowTalk, Francois K, Pat Mahoney, or Steve Lawler and Carlo Lio (to name a few) were all in town for the big night. None of these however, garnered more of a flurry of interest and excitement than the announcement that Luciano and a trusty crew of beatmakers would be throwing a Vagabundos party on New Year's Day.

Sultan & Ned Shepard – Organ Donor [Free Download]
Canadian producers Sultan & Ned Shepard have been releasing dance music as far back as 2007, but only recently really gaining steam and grabbing attention with big room hits like "Walls" (featured on Tiesto's Club Life Vol. 2) and "Somebody to Love" with Dirty Vegas. Now they're back again with a free download of a new track called "Organ Donor" from their Facebook page. On this one, they strip out the poppier big room sound they've become recognized for and replace it with a sinister intro, minor chord progressions, and a heavier electro house break.
Justice kick off their North American tour with exclusive set at Sirius XM and sold out show at Hammerstein Ballroom
Softspoken, electronic-rock gods, Justice, stopped by the Sirius XM studios this past Friday to spin an exclusive set for a studio packed with die-hard fans. In a brief pre-set interview, Gaspard Augé remained sullen and quiet while Xavier de Rosnay explained the origins of Justice, including their "accidental" jump into music production, their first remix of Simian Mobile Disco and the classic rock inspiration behind Audio, Video, Disco. In anticipation for the start of their North American tour, the French duo spun an eclectic set of originals and techno-heavy tracks from some of the premiere French acts in the scene today. Leading off with ZZT's "Partys Over Lose Angeles" the duo featured cuts from Gesaffelstein, Destructo, Surkin, SebastiAn, Jacques Lu Cont and more, before finally closing out, interestingly enough, with Michael Sembello's "Maniac" which took most of us in the studio by surprise -- but, as one fan put it, "That's what legends fucking do."
Tiesto at XS Las Vegas: Tracks You Need to Know
XS at the Encore Las Vegas reaches capacity regardless of what talent is playing inside of the venue, but on the bigger nights, the energy can be downright mindblowing. We were there as Tijs graced the room and took control of the decks at around 1 AM this past weekend and our jaws collectively dropped. He launched into his set with a few tracks from his Club Life album he also effortlessly incorporated a few tunes from last week's Club Life radio show. The incorporation of the CL radio tracks came as a surprise - normally, DJs tend to play more commercial sets in Las Vegas (as one DJ put it: "the crowd just isn't as knowledgeable") - but Tiesto is known to feature up-and-coming tracks, and not necessarily the most mainstream fare on Club Life radio. Just when we thought the night couldn't get anymore intense, Afrojack made an appearance and pinch-DJed for Tiesto and turned the energy up to 11. Read more about the extravaganza after the break.
Thomas Gold dominates NYC with back-to-back Pacha / Governors Island shows (review)
Just one year ago, Thomas Gold was opening for Steve Angello on New York's Governors Island as part of the Size Matters squad. Well, this year he returned to the island along with a new crew, new label, and new material — and this time around, he was the star of the show.
