Uplifting without the obnoxious melodic interventions and poised for the more patient listener, Laurel’s standout vocal assets add a delicate dimension to the track that puts ‘Nothing Ever Hurts’ in a world of its own by modern standards. This is a rare breed of underground house cut for multiple crowds, but we shouldn’t have expected any less from the union of two of the UK’s most revered house assets of the time.
