Swedish House Mafia confirms Madison Square Garden and Milton Keynes Bowl shows, announces new album ‘One Night Stand’

Swedish House Mafia has finally come clean with their big 23.09 announcement, and we can now officially confirm that the trio will be playing at Madison Square Garden and the Milton Keynes National Bowl. That shouldn’t be too surprising if you’ve been following the code along with us, but One Night Stand refers to an upcoming SHM album, not the shows themselves. No release date has been set, but it will have recent tracks like “Antidote” and “Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall” among others.

Tickets for MSG go on sale Friday September 30th at 10AM EST on LiveNation and Ticketmaster, but “SHM Originals” get access early. If you sent in your ticket info from M2, a code will be sent tomorrow, (September 24th) that can be used starting 10AM Wednesday the 28th. Brixton 2009 ticket holders will get the same treatment starting at 9AM. Tickets for Milton Keynes National Bowl go on sale Friday September 30th at 9AM from SeeTickets, Gigs and Tours, and Ticketmaster UK.

Steve, Axwell, and Seb are insistent that this is all about the fans, and the special treatment for SHM Originals reflects that. These shows are for those of us that religiously follow the trio online and know every remix and release — not the people who have just heard “One” or “Save The World” on the radio.

As the dance music scene continues to grow exponentially, Swedish House Mafia understands that it’s all about keeping the core fans happy. 65,000 will pack into Milton Keynes Bowl on July 14th, 2012, and thousands will be at Madison Square on December 16th. We can’t wait to help make history when the time finally comes and neither can SHM. We’ll bring you more information about guests and themes as we get it, but in the meantime read their heartfelt letter below.

We hope you are excited about our news that we will be the first ever DJ artists to play at the legendary venues of Madison Square Garden and the National Milton Keynes Bowl Arena — and we hope that you will be there to be a part of the historic events.

We also hope you like our take on Coldplay’s “Teardrops,” and our amazing collaboration with Knife Party, “Antidote,” which will be out on our One Night Stand album. Our thanks go out to those guys as well.

There were so many factors in play when it came to choosing our venues, but we knew that making history together was one of our most important criteria.

So many of you will be able to join us at MSG — one of the most famous arenas in the world. As if that wasn’t enough, an astounding 65,000 fans will stand together, free of sound restrictions and worries, at the Milton Keynes Bowl in Buckinghamshire when we take to the stage and make history there.

We’ve worked hard with the promoters and suppliers to deliver incredible ticket value and to make these monumental events as accessible to our fans as possible. For those who can’t be there in person, we will be working to bring the experience to you in some capacity via the Web.

The venues are just the first part of the equation, and we will be announcing the guests who will join us and our theme for the Milton Keynes Bowl in February — so we hope you’re ready for more surprises!

It’s important to reflect on the incredible opportunities in the dance music scene now, ones that we wouldn’t have thought possible even one year ago. While it is bigger than ever, the dance music culture still manages to be the best-kept secret in the world.

Sure, you hear many of the world’s greatest electronic producers on the radio nowadays or see them on MTV, but the heartbeat of dance music is still on the dance floor — and that’s still one space left for only the most dedicated and passionate fans.

New music is made every day. It’s in secret forums, back-room dance floors, college dormitories, and laptops, constantly being passed around with a shh and a wink. But that’s why we love it, right?

When we brought the Masquerade Motel to Miami this year, everyone in attendance sang along as we played “Save The World” for the first time. The only other footage of the song was from fan-uploaded YouTube videos of Steve playing it in Australia, and it was at that moment we recognized the uniqueness of a festival or large show like this: It’s unique, it’s wonderful, and it’s a family. And it’s all because of you.

As attendance numbers soar and the venues for shows of this caliber grow, the debate rages on: Has house gone mainstream?

We don’t know the answer, and we don’t care. The rules are the same.

We come. We rave. We Love.

That’s the real code of what we do, and anyone who comes to any of our gigs knows that.

We’d like to give a massive shoutout to all those artists who have inspired us in this journey of electronic music to this point. All of the DJs, singers, writers, producers, promoters, dancers, designers, FX teams, lighting jockeys, sound engineers, bloggers, nightclub workers… anyone and everyone who makes this possible.

We wouldn’t be able to do this without you,

History is made by the people.

So people: Let’s do this!

With so much love and awe for you,

Swedish House Mafia
