Weekend Rewind: Busta Rhymes samples Daft Punk’s ‘Technologic’ for ‘Touch It’
Before Kanye West ever got his hands on "Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger," hip-hop all-stars made use of Daft Punk's robotic sound. Dating back to 2005, Busta Rhymes found the duo's "Technologic" to sample for the lead single from his album The Big Bang.
Fatboy Slim: ‘Daft Punk have given us all a kick up the arse’
Fatboy Slim is only one of many artists and fans alike whom find their minds quite blown by Daft Punk's latest material. In a recent interview with Daily Star, Fatboy -- real name Norman Cook -- praises the duo, crediting them as "the last great dance music supergroup you'll ever hear" and claiming they've given electronic artists "a kick up the arse."
Daft Punk receives first UK Number 1 for ‘Get Lucky’
Daft Punk continue to assert their return -- and their inevitable domination of dance music -- as the release of Random Access Memories looms on the horizon. After becoming the most streamed piece of music in Spotify's history, 'Get Lucky' has just achieved UK Number 1 status, a first for Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo. This is just another milestone that the duo can add to an already laundry list of awards and accolades.
Daft Punk ditch the helmets for intimate interview with GQ magazine
A Daft Punk interview is a rare thing -- the duo have only done a handful since Human After All -- and in the latest edition of GQ, Zach Baron sits with the duo for a candid and honest conversation. It seems that after their 8 year hiatus the two have become a bit rusty when it comes to their Daft Punk personas, sharing more intimate details with GQ than they have in interviews past. Very early in their career, Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo have hid their faces from public view, creating two completely separate indentites that have allowed them to achieve a near god-like status in electronic music while still maintaining their personal lives far outside of the public eye. To see the two without the helmets is a disarming experience, one that provides for an interesting and intimate interview into the minds of two of dance music's greatest icons.
Daft Punk Collaborators Part 5: Panda Bear ‘Everything I do is rhythmic’
One of the more unlikely collaborator's on Random Access Memories, Animal Collective's lead singer Panda Bear talks about his experiences working with Daft Punk. The softspoken frontman talks about how honored he is to have had the opportunity, discussing how Guy-Man and Thomas are constantly challenging themselves to go new places with their music. Rather than sample old music, the duo recorded new tracks in an old way - creating a sound that is both robotic and mechanical while still maintaining its charming imperfections.
