Daft Punk sweep the Grammys, Zedd and Cedric Gervais score first Grammy wins
The 56th annual Grammys have come to an end and once again electronic dance music inches closer to the spotlight. This year Daft Punk took home the Grammy for Best Dance/Electronica Album, besting Pretty Lights, Disclosure, Calvin Harris, and Kaskade. The pair entered the live telecast by winning Best Pop Duo/Group Performance with Pharrell, and ended their four for four sweep with Record of the Year, beating out Imagine Dragons, Lorde, Bruno Mars, and Robin Thicke.
Pharrell debuts new Major Lazer collaboration on Holy Ship
Coming this February, Major Lazer's upcoming EP is expected to feature collaborations from RDX, Sean Paul, Elephant and the estimable Pharrell, who's work with Daft Punk on "Get Lucky" has earned him a well-deserved Grammy nod. During this year's Holy Ship!!!, Pharrell performed the brand new collaboration live with Diplo behind the decks. "Holy Ship! This is a brand new Pharrell/ Major Lazer tune here." Pharrell remixes Woodkid’s ‘I Love You’
It's a rare occasion that Pharrell Williams remixes a track and despite gaining notoriety primarily from his hip hop outputs, it's no secret; Pharrell is one hell of a producer. Reworking French singer-songwriter Woodkid's 'I Love You,' Pharrell embraces the mood of the melancholic original, slightly altering its tempo with a percussion-focused foundation. Yoann Lemoine's organ work remains intact, echoing amidst Pharrell's own psychedelic additions.
Despite Pharrell’s alleged statement to the New York Post, Daft Punk team denies tour
Earlier today the New York Post reported that Pharrell had allegedly made statements regarding Daft Punk's touring plans for 2013. According to Page Six, the "Get Lucky" collaborator made mention of hitting the road with Daft Punk "next year." These statements, however, were quickly refuted by Daft Punk's team in an official statement to Huffington Post citing that "no tour is planned."
