Diplo and Skrillex team up to form Jack U, set to play at this summer’s Mad Decent Block Party
Back when Skrillex, Diplo and A-Trak were teasing Potato, many speculated that their cryptic messages were hinting at a new supergroup being formed. Not so sadly, Potato turned out to be a YouTube video channel that houses content from three of dance music's greatest tastemakers, leaving many satisfied but still mildly disappointed. The name Jack U first appeared yesterday on Mad Decent's Block Party lineup - a name that would have been easily glossed over as one of Mad Decent's yet-unknown talents but it has now been revealed as much more monumental than that with Diplo ditching any convoluted teasing and getting right to the point on Twitter yesterday.
What are Skrillex and Diplo doing with Waka Flocka Flame?
Atlanta's latest rap hero Waka Flocka Flame is the latest name to be linked to electronic entities. Referring to himself as "The King of Rap EDM," Waka has confirmed that he's working with Skrillex, Diplo, Flosstradmus, along with underground artists.
Skrillex teams up with Cliff Martinez to score ‘Spring Breakers’
Taking a page out of the Trent Reznor and Daft Punk playbooks, Skrillex teams up with the man behind Drive's score, Cliff Martinez, to lend his touch to the soundtrack for the upcoming movie "Spring Breakers." Cliff's ethereal approach to creating soundscapes that ebb and flow with haunting energy, combined with Skrillex's signature melody-driven dubstep work in tandem to create a dazzling display of electronica. Featuring a string version of "Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites" and a handful of classic Skrillex originals. With production credits on nine of the nineteen tracks, the album isn't completely scored by Sonny but serves as yet another part of the music industry that the dubstep producer has made his mark on.
