DA Premiere: Steve Aoki – Back To Earth Feat. Fall Out Boy (The Chainsmokers Remix)
Fall Out Boy and Steve Aoki's "Back to Earth" off 2014's Neon Future 1 album has just received its first slew of official remixes. The Club Edition comes courtesy of Aoki himself, who reworks the Patrick Stump-fronted hit into an electro house dancefloor freak show. Buzzing saws and space age arpeggios swirl and cut out under the pop punk hooks, while Aoki's signature blend of high-octane club elements add an electro touch that we've come to miss from the Dim Mak mischief maker.
Bonnie McKee – American Girl (Steve Aoki Remix)
America's favorite performer, Steve Aoki, cooked up a killer remix of Bonnie McKee's radio hit, "American Girl," that'll bring you right back to the beach parties and bikinis of Summer 2013. Aoki teased us with a two second snippet of the track on his Vine back in August, but now we can hear the whole rendition on his SoundCloud. The Dim Mak founder turns this simple, bubbly pop-song upside down right from the beginning. Starting us off with some key electro-house baselines, fading McKee's vocals into the beat then adding in some more abrasive synths, he takes the catchy melody and flips it into a club-worthy remix. If you're not convinced right away, just wait for the drop. It'll be sure to get you dancing- no, jumping- the first time you hear it.
The Grammys announce 2013 nominees, Diplo receives Producer of the Year nod
Dance music's presence in last year's Grammy awards was undeniable, marking the first time a DJ had been nominated for the Best New Artist category. The DJs and producers who were big in our world had finally crossed over into mainstream relevance by way of Skrillex's five nominations and three wins. Although there doesn't seem to be any milestone entries this year, Diplo's nomination for Best Producer is an accolade that is long overdue. Only three highly-recognizable dance music artists were nominated in 2012, but this time around there's a much healthier selection. But does anyone know who the hell Al Walser is? or did we just get trolled by the Grammys?
