Funk android and soulful R&B siren Janelle Monae receives the remix treatment from the legendary Chocolate Puma on her latest pop hit "Dance Apocalyptic." The Dutch house duo twist, chop and screw Monae's original, installing a super-compressed bass line alongside shifty guitar licks and 1950s swing aesthetics. Driven by hollow drums and ribbed synthwork, the duo strip the original down to its most basic elements and then rebuild it on a jagged mass of after hours beat work. It's a dark spin on a flighty pop hit that takes both "Dance" and "Apocalyptic" literally when remixed.
