The GRAMMYS change the rules, plan to allow samples in all songwriting categories
During The Recording Academy's Board of Trustees annual meeting, numerous changes were voted on in regards to the GRAMMY Awards process, the most relevant of which was the allowance of samples or interpolations of previously written works in all songwriting categories, including Song of the Year.

The 56th annual Grammys have come to an end and once again electronic dance music inches closer to the spotlight. This year Daft Punk took home the Grammy for Best Dance/Electronica Album, besting Pretty Lights, Disclosure, Calvin Harris, and Kaskade. The pair entered the live telecast by winning Best Pop Duo/Group Performance with Pharrell, and ended their four for four sweep with Record of the Year, beating out Imagine Dragons, Lorde, Bruno Mars, and Robin Thicke.
