Good Morning Mix – Max Cooper’s Synesthetes Museum
A few months back, computational biologist-turned geneticist-turned electronic music producer Max Cooper produced this mix entitles "Synesthetes Museum" with the goal of capturing the sound of a space, in this case the British Museum. He wanted to be able to relay how he felt in the museum, wandering from exhibit to courtyard to research library and back. In his own words: "I wanted to make the mix something of an exploration through history and ideas in line with the contents of the museum, so I brought in lots of disparate music spanning the centuries and continents." His work here is an excellent reminder of the scope of electronic music and just how many ways we can reimagine our experiences into considered exploration into history, architecture, sound, and space.
