With less than a week until My Favorite Robot's Mirror Image EP sees the light of day, the talented tech mavens unveil "Dead of the Dance" as an exclusive free download to satisfy their insatiable fans. The landmark 100th release on MFR recordings, Mirror Image's first public offering is lovingly languid, a somber collection of elastic basslines and dripping synthwork. Conjuring up a dystopian aesthetic from start to finish, "Dead of the Dance," embodies its namesake with ease, using subtle effects and twisted samples to establish a macabre sense of wonder in any fan brave enough to press play.
With bouncy and low key synths, My Favorite Robot's minimalist track 'Sharpest Tongue' combines elements of indie music with electronica. A refreshing revisit to retro sounds from the previous millennium, the track's music video highlights senior citizens wandering, dancing, and shuffling through a dated bowling alley. Combined with a sultry and smooth vocal line, this is a track not meant for festival main stages but rather late night private grooves.
