At just 21 years of age, Danish electro producer, The Frederik, has already been making a name for himself with deftly-produced and tightly wound electronica. His debut release on Pilot Recordings - the founder of UKF, Luke Hood's brand new label - is an impressive freshman effort from the up-and-comer. The young producer swears off MIDI controllers, creating his monstrous productions on hardware synths and analogue processors - a sound he describes as "rusty machines running on steam." The title cut on the five track EP is deceptively heavy, combining The Frederik's classically trained ear for harmony with a modern day spin on dirty dub-heavy electro. At times frantic, "Heavy Crownage" toys with elements of light and dark to create a cacophony of guttural groans and soaring arpeggios.
