UPDATED: Electric Daisy Carnival will not be coming to Winston Farm says Saugerties supervisor
Back in July, Insomniac presented an Electric Daisy Carnival concept to the Saugerties board with the intent of hosting an EDC NY at the site of the 1994 Woodstock Arts & Music Festival at Winston Farms. Conceived as a 3-day camping festival with a limited attendance to 75,000 people, the powers that be on the Saugerties board have denied Insomniac's request to expand their brand to one of the most iconic festival grounds in the United States. According to town Supervisor, Kelly Myers, the board voted on Wednesday to suspend the request, citing that local fire and ambulance services did not feel they could adequately provide services for that sort of event.
Woodstock tapped for possible location of Electric Daisy Carnival
Electric Daisy Carnival organizers have tapped Winston Farm, the location of Woodstock '94, as a potential location for a new Electric Daisy Carnival event. On Wednesday, Insomniac representatives presented to the Saugerties town board seeking permission to hold the event on Memorial Day Weekend 2014. Anticipated to be a 3-day camping festival, Insomniac plans to limit attendance to 75,000 people (as opposed to the 350,000 that Winston Farm held during Woodstock '94) and would include four to seven stages, carnival rides and large-scale art installations.
