Swedish House Mafia and more to play on iHeartRadio this New Year’s Eve
For those of you going the house party route for New Year's Eve (any real nightlife junkie knows that New Year's Eve is amateur hour anyway) the boys in black, Swedish House Mafia, will be providing 2 hours of listening pleasure to ring in 2013. From 10pm to 12am EST, IHeartRadio will be streaming a mix recorded by the guys for Pete Tong while they were on tour passing through Amsterdam. The second hour of the mix is the never-before-released audio from their legendary performance at Milton Keynes Bowl, widely regarded as one of the best shows they have ever performed. Alongside Calvin Harris, Pete Tong, Paul Van Dyk and Diplo, IHeartRadio's New Year's Eve programming is your best bet for experiencing one of the most dance music saturated New Year's Eves in history -- all without dealing with the crowds.
Swedish House Mafia’s Black Tie Rave auction for Sandy Relief begins
In the wake of Hurricane Sandy's aftermath, we have seen countless artists band together to raise money and awareness for those affected by the storm. The Swedish House Mafia's Black Tie Rave on February 28th plans to continue this trend, donating 100% of the net proceeds to the Mayor's Fund to Advance New York City and the Hurricane Sandy New Jersey Relief Fund. Tickets are on sale now via Ticketmaster's auctioning system and which will continue until December 16th. The show, scheduled to take place at New York City's Hammerstein Ballroom, is a strict black tie and ball gowns affair - with an age limit of 21+. I guess it's time to rent a tuxedo.
The Grammys announce 2013 nominees, Diplo receives Producer of the Year nod
Dance music's presence in last year's Grammy awards was undeniable, marking the first time a DJ had been nominated for the Best New Artist category. The DJs and producers who were big in our world had finally crossed over into mainstream relevance by way of Skrillex's five nominations and three wins. Although there doesn't seem to be any milestone entries this year, Diplo's nomination for Best Producer is an accolade that is long overdue. Only three highly-recognizable dance music artists were nominated in 2012, but this time around there's a much healthier selection. But does anyone know who the hell Al Walser is? or did we just get trolled by the Grammys?
