LCD Soundsystem to headline Coachella 2016
Coachella is continuing its trend of blockbuster band reunions. After recent news that Guns N’ Roses will reunite for a headlining slot from the California festival, The New York Times have confirmed the second headliner as LCD Soundsystem.
The veteran electronic-rock band will reunite for the first time in five years after disbanding in 2011. The group parted ways after a decade of existence and three studio albums, performing one final blowout show at New York’s Madison Square Garden in April of 2011.
In 2015, rumors ran wild of a possible LCD Soundsystem reunion, and Coachella was the obvious candidate for the group’s first performance. The anticipation culminated on December 24, when the group released “Christmas Will Break Your Heart,” their first piece of music since disbanding. Now we can finally put the rumors to rest and say with confidence: LCD Soundsystem is officially back.
