Quix & Young Sidechain – Rat Traps (Feat. Gucci Mane)

New Zealand producer Quix has been releasing a steady stream of singles and remixes for the past two years. After releasing his debut EP, Heaps Cool, last month on Dim Mak Records, Quix has returned with a huge new collaboration featuring fellow producer Young Sidechain and Atlanta trap god Gucci Mane.

Premiered on Quix’s recent Diplo & Friends mix, the track begins with a verse from Gucci Mane before a dirty, bass-laden drop. Gucci contributes a second verse and his signature ad-libs throughout the track. Stylistically reminiscent of “Purple Lamborghini” by Skrillex and Rick Ross, these three artists continue to blur the lines between dubstep, trap, and hip-hop. While the combination of rap and electronic music is nothing new, the idea of big name rappers collaborating with heavy dubstep and and trap producers is becoming an increasingly frequent trend.
