Miami DJ Soccer Game 2012: Tiesto’s Dutch team defeats Sebastian Ingrosso’s Swedes
The charity DJ Soccer Game went down at noon today in Miami, by the water at the lovely Fontainebleau Hotel. There was no shortage of trash talk between team captains Sebastian Ingrosso and Tiesto on Twitter in the lead up to the match, but things got real once they actually hit the field. We were invited to check out the game, and are pleased to inform you that Dutch team asserted their dominance over the Swedes. There was no shortage of intensity here – both teams came to win. The first goal of the match was scored by Alesso, who quickly showed the older DJs that he came to play. His goal was quickly answered by the bruiser, Sidney Samson, who used his size to muscle a goal passed Stefan of Dada Life. Sunnery James scored the first of many goals attributed to SJ & RM who were the clear stand-outs of the game. As the game progressed things began to get heated, resulting in a direct kick and a goal when R3hab tripped Adrian Lux up in the box. Despite his self-proclaimed unathleticism (and mid quarter cigarette breaks) Afrojack uses his size to be a dominant force as keeper, putting up some impressive saves and shutting down the Swedish onslaught led by Alesso and Lux. The Dada Life boys showed that they can kick more than just “the epic,” scoring three goals between the two of them and exhibiting some serious ball control.
The turning point of the game came when the Swedes scored on their own goal in the 4th quarter, destroying their momentum and opening the field up for Dutch to dominate the remainder of the game. Both sides played with a level of intensity we didn’t expect from a friendly exhibition match. This just might be the start of something huge — maybe next year there will be a tournament so settle the score once and for all. We already know Seb wants a rematch.
Dutch: 12 Swedes: 10
