NPR Music and KCRW announce Metropolis partnership and New York launch with Cut Copy

With Top 40 charts and commercial airwaves fully saturated with the poppiest offerings of electronic music, public radio is bringing listeners something new. Today, in partnership with NPR Music, Southern California public talk radio KCRW is bringing their recently relaunched nighttime electronic dance music segment Metropolis to NPR Music. KCRW Music Director Jason Bentley, the man and host directly responsible for the revival and massive success of Metropolis, is well-versed in the world of dance music as both an industry business leader and producer. NPR Music plans to bring Metropolis to it’s wide roster of programs in efforts to foster music discovery. Launched today, the first episode is available here.

To celebrate the collaboration and kickoff of Metropolis, NPR Music and KCRW are bringing a free concert to New York City, headlined by Australian indie electronic band Cut Copy and featuring a DJ set from radio host Jason Bentley himself. The 21+ concert will be hosted at Le Poisson Rouge on November 19th and live streamed for the worldwide NPR audience here. With RSVP slots opening on Wednesday, follow NPR Music and KCRW on Twitter for more details on how to snag a spot.
