Hardsoul and Rocky Wellstack Feat. Chappell – Criticize (Original + Remixes)
Of all the Dutch trailblazers to pass through the nation’s luscious talent pool, Roog and Greg Van Buuren have long been two of its finest house specimens. Back on Hardsoul Pressings in the wake of December’s “Sacrifice,” the brotherly duo bring accomplished national peers Rocky Wellstack and Chappell into the equation to re-imagine Alexander O’Neal’s ‘87 single for the modern market. Familiar club crooner Chappell sits well at home amid the sharp grooves and subtle melodic core of “Criticize,” the union of which highlights that spotless and soulfully adept sound we have come to expect from anything with the outspoken Wellstack and his Dutch peer’s names on it. The darker and more ungroomed vibes of the SMN remix juxtapose against Lucas & Steve’s airier house remodel, leaving the Muzikjunki Viezefonk Mix to finish the package with subtle yet immediately infectious stamina. With no shortage of sub-genres falling in and out of the limelight, “Criticize” plays testament to a sound still turning heads when placed in the right hands and an array of artists vital to its global lifeblood.
