Cyclical industry longserver Roger Sanchez has never quite dropped off the industry radar. After a brief spell of silence from the trail of his impending Roots album, the New York house veteran ushers in another wave of releases as S-Man, bringing out his beloved side-moniker to inaugurate his latest label effort UNDR THE RADR. As the successor for 2011’s “Animalz” for Stealth Records, the chameleon-like guise of Sanchez’s studio artillery turns to the core of the underground sound for “Dangerous Thoughts.” While the low-end pushes forward, laser samples battle on the top line. A hot bed of solid grooves and infectious sample work see Sanchez at his most raw and resilient form yet in 2014. It’s the kind of no-frills house escapade that has kept the North American icon on a far more constant ascension than the majority of his generational peers.
