True to the historic form of the Belgian imprint, it is Dutch coupling Alvaro and Dirtcaps that delivers the goods to Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike’s budding label project, bringing with them a genre-bending taste of the national mint right in time for the final hurdle of the summer. Part triplet-heavy trap nod, part chugging big room outing with melodic undertones, “Dagga” juggles genre hallmarks in a way that shows considerable aptitude for the sound everyone seems to be seeking fault in for 2014. The track shows real gusto for the lifeblood of the heavy-footed festival anthem and the Dutch influence that has so liberally fuelled it do date, giving the latter duo a much deserved spotlight away from their national comfort zone.
