Madeon joins Justin Bieber and Martin Garrix on Billboard’s 21 under 21
Literally launching his career via YouTube and a launchpad, the young Hugo Pierre Leclercq, better known as Madeon, was quickly dubbed a prodigy by fans and artists alike. It was from there that a barrage of incredible remixes, including one for deadmau5’s “Raise Your Weapon” cemented him as more than just a YouTube sensation but also a full-blown electronic maestro. In an EDM landscape flanked on all sides by tutorial-based, cookie cutter producers, Madeon represents the antithesis of the stigma so often associated with electronic music and its bastardized acronym.
Being acknowledged by Billboard alongside the likes of Lorde, Justin Bieber, Bobby Shmurda, Chief Keef and fellow EDM posterboy Martin Garrix, as one of Billboard’s 21 under 21 is no small achievement, but with production credits on Lady Gaga’s Artpop after opening for her on a world tour it’s no surprise he’s found himself alongside some of pop’s biggest stars.
