Ultra Japan deemed largest electronic music event in country’s history
Exporting the Ultra brand all the way to Asia was no easy feat, but little did we know that the first edition of Ultra Japan, which took place on September 28 and 29, would become the country’s largest electronic music event to date. The festival’s overwhelming popularity throughout Japan allowed it to sell out more than eight weeks ahead of time, appealing to over 42,000 fans over the course of two days. If that wasn’t impressive enough, more than a million additional fans across the globe checked in to Ultra’s official YouTube channel, UMF TV, to watch in awe from their computer screens as Alesso, Fedde le Grand, Hardwell and Kaskade graced Japan’s soil. No wonder Axwell and Ingrosso described the inaugural event as “one of the best gigs of [their] lives.”
