The Weeknd – Often (Lido Remix)
Norwegian upstart Lido made a lot of friends courtesy of the I Love You EP back in June, but his remixes have kept the well-oiled beat smith on positive ascent since. Off the heels of subsequent remix duties for Zhu and Mø, Canadian hip-hop crooner The Weeknd is next in line for a Lido reshuffle of suitably epic proportions.
His latest is a chaotic and fidgety take on the intimate R&B offering, one that respectfully treads over the original’s vocal work only to come crashing down on it with that signature energy and technical aptitude that has served the young Scandinavian talent considerably well throughout the last 12 months. In spite of his tender age and relatively ‘fresh faced’ industry standing, Lido is bringing a sense of consistency that few others of his peer group can boast. His remix of “Often” is testament to a spike in output that looks only to excel in the year ahead.
