Young & Sick – Heartache Fetish (Ta-ku Rework)
The sounds emanating from Australia are some of the most progressive and cutting-edge sounds in dance music, and undoubtedly one of the foremost contributors to this innovative, new production style is Ta-ku. Although Ta-ku’s music is spearheading the exploration into different sounds, nobody else’s productions come close to properly emulating his dark, edgy grooves. Ta-ku’s latest proves to have been a self-imposed challenge as well, as he recorded his own vocals for the very first time on his pensive rework of Young & Sick’s “Heartache Fetish.”
The original track is a melodic, soulful ballad that winds and bends around dreamy soundscapes, complete with calm crooning that runs through your head. Ta-ku opts to allow the original’s appeal carry the rework, however his own stylistic additions are forward-thinking and poignant. Ta-ku’s rework abides by a slightly colder temperament, but still incorporates the same ethereal feeling projected by the original cut. Including subtle, futuristic synth layers that listeners can get lost in, Ta-ku’s rework of “Heartache Fetish” is worth listening to over and over again.
