Mysteryland US to increase size and scope in 2015
Mysteryland will be returning to Bethel Woods this year — with a lot more attendees in tow.
A local newspaper in Bethel Woods, NY is reporting that Mysteryland US has received unanimous approval for its 2015 site plan. Scheduled for Memorial Day Weekend of 2015, the festival will grow from 7,500 to 20,000 – a significant increase in size from its highly-lauded debut.
Organizers are also seeking a waiver from the Health Department to allow the event to extend beyond the 60-hour maximum length – a move that seeks to allow campers a bit more time to leave the site after Sunday’s festivities. If the waiver does not go through campers would be allowed on site at 7pm May 22nd and must leave by 7am on May 25th, forcing anyone in the Holy Grounds camp site to set up camp in the dark and wake up extremely early to get the hell out of Dodge.
Editor’s Note: The initial report of expanding from 7,500 to 20,000 may be referring to ONLY the campgrounds, with the actual festival growing in size from last year’s estimated 17,500 daily attendees to 30,000 this year.
Sources close to the festival have also disclosed that an additional investment of $500k has been put aside to improve on last year’s Holy Grounds.
