Deadmau5 launches remix contest for ‘Some Chords (Dillon Francis Remix)’
The year is almost over and Deamau5 (unsurprisingly) has his hands full. In addition to being nominated for his sixth Grammy award in the ‘Best Dance/Electronic Album’ category for his album while(1<2), the Canadian producer has also earned a coveted slot headlining #GUVFINALE on January 25, the closing show of the legendary venue that helped springboard Zimmerman’s musical career. Factor in a New Year’s performance in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil for Reveillon Paradise Weekend and the mau5 has himself what would seem to be a full January load.
So why not throw a remix contest into the mix? Deadmau5 has announced he has partnered with Beatport to launch a competition to find the best remix of a remix. In this case, the canvas is Dillon Francis‘s rework of Deadmau5’s “Some Chords” and submissions are being accepted through January 26. Voting will follow from January 27 to February 9. The grand prize winner will be announced February 24 and will see his or her work made available on Beatport as part of an exclusive mau5trap remix release, and will receive an Antelope Audio Interface with an assortment of Eurorack modular synth modules and other software.
