Watch This: Time Warp founder delivers keynote interview at IMS Asia-Pacific
Now that Time Warp has expanded onto American soil, the coveted event has officially landed in multiple continents. At the first International Music Summit in Asia, the founder of the techno-focused festival sat down with Ben Turner for an extended keynote interview. Touching on a variety of topics, the almost 40-minute interview is an in depth look at the mind of one of electronic music’s most accomplished event producers.
Beginning on the topic of Time Warp’s interesting roots, Steffen quickly divulges details of the first two events. Reminiscing how the first festival only attracted 1500 attendees before the second expanded to over 10,000, the founder explains how the festival’s noise level immediately got them in trouble. Moving on to discuss how the festival’s expansion around the globe can be successful, Steffen Charles comments that, “For us, first of all, it’s important for us to bring the right lineup and secondly, we need to completely focus on our production.” He continues, “It’s not a situation where we make a lot of money, but we want to keep the brand very tight.” An interesting look into the mind of an electronic music pioneer, the extended keynote is a must watch for any techno fan.
