Montreal’s great electronic hope, Eekkoo, goes off the beaten path with an unofficial edit of Jamie xx’s “Loud Places.” Branching off from his pristine original compositions “Elysium” and “Shadow People,” Eekkoo adds subtle touches to the Romy lead effort, installing a crisp four-to-the-floor kick under the original’s emphatic verses. Reminiscent of Jamie xx and Romy’s work together as The XX, Eekkoo’s edit of the pair’s latest collaboration is further proof that the sound engineer turned production phenom has an uncanny ability to transform any track he touches.
