Gallant and Sufjan Stevens collaborate on inaugural episode of ‘In The Room’
Former tour mates, Sufjan Stevens and Gallant, have linked up for a live jam. The studio session is bigger than just a single effort, serving as the first episode in a new series of running, streamed collaborative studio episodes with a rotation of different artists. Gallant, one of our most intriguing talents to watch in 2016, explained the idea as:
“An ongoing collaborative project– a chance to both pay tribute to and create something special with the artists that have inspired me the most.”
The series, aptly titled In the Room for bringing artists together to inspire one another in the studio, is kicking off with the enigmatic Sufjan Stevens. The elusive Coachella 2016 headliner performs “Blue Bucket of Gold” from his most recent record Carrie and Lowell, with Gallant’s stunning vocal accompaniment. Marking the first episode of In The Room, Gallant and Sufjan Stevens produce a beautiful cover and set the tone for the series’ following installments.
Given that Sufjan Stevens and Gallant have proven to be comfortably accustomed to performing together, perhaps a cameo by the “Weight In Gold” vocalist during Steven’s headlining slot in Indio this coming spring is a possibility. We will just have to wait and see.
