My Nu Leng & Flava D – Soul Shake

There’s been a lot of half hearted attempts to bring bass favoring club records back into vogue over the past twelve months. Few come better versed in bringing the sound to the bigger rooms than MTA Records, who this month welcome UK champions My Nu Leng back to its musical halls to follow-up on the Horizons EP with one of their rawest A-sides to date.

Alongside London’s own Flava D, “Soul Shake” shoots for a rigid and wobbly stab at the lesser groomed ranks of UK house music, ditching the European mint for polished productions and watered down sample work and opting for straight up energy. What’s most refreshing about “Soul Shake” isn’t its devil-may-care spirit, but the fact that My Nu Leng and the label continue to stay on course with high caliber club records that aren’t trying to hard to sound like the buzz sound of the day.
