Beyoncé recruits Diplo on new record ‘Lemonade’
It was only a matter of time before Beyoncé and Diplo officially came together for a collaboration. From Beyoncé’s inescapable lady’s anthem “Girls,” where Bey spits over Major Lazer‘s “Pon De Floor,” to Jack Ü’s fizzing remix of Queen Bey’s “7/11” Diplo and Beyoncé have been building anticipation for a joint effort for quite some time.
With Beyoncé’s latest LP, Lemonade, we finally have it. Enlisting the Mad Decent label head on the two selections from the record, Diplo ropes in production credits on “All Night” and “Hold Up,” adding another major pop icon to his list of marquee collaborations.
From Justin Bieber to Madonna, Diplo’s midas touch has become a widely recognized force to be reckoned with as the distinction between pop and EDM blurs into nonexistence. Beyoncé’s Lemonade has proven to be quite the production, rounding together work from The Weeknd, Jack White, Kendrick Lamar, and James Blake, aligning with an HBO special to announce the LP. With his name among those ranks, Diplo continues to prove why he is one of the most important producers around.
