Flume, RÜFÜS DU SOL, Hayden James among those nominated for ARIAs
Australia is arguably one of the most prolific hotbeds for today’s electronic music scene. One way that this has manifested is the inordinate amount of talented new artists that are joining the growing pool of well-established Aussies making a huge splash on the global stage. The obvious example of this is the bedroom producer turned superstar Flume.
The Australian Recording Industry Association has released its nominations for their ARIA Music Awards — Australia’s version of The Grammys with Flume in top contention. If there was any doubt about the omniscience of Flume, the fact that he has a total of 11 nominations will dispel that immediately.
Among those nominations are Album of the Year–for which RÜFÜS DU SOL and The Avalanches have also been nominated–Best Australian Live Act, and Best Male Artist. All three of the artists mentioned above were nominated for Best Dance Release, with the up-and-comer Hayden James joining in with his single, “Just A Lover.”
The full list of nominees can be found at the ARIA Music Awards website.
