Alex Metric delivers ‘Freeek’ from forthcoming ‘Howsla’ compilation [Exclusive Stream]

UK beatmaker Alex Metric has been somewhat of an OWSLA stalwart since the label’s infancy. Straddling the intersection of electro, disco, funk and UK garage, Alex Metric has become a veteran force on the label’s roster, holding down the house-leaning balance to OWSLA’s colorful, variant production output. Now Skrillex‘s collective is gearing up to drop their official homage to house music with their forthcoming Howsla compilation, due May 5, with Metric’s latest, “Freeek,” teasing the collection’s rollout.

Hitting the tempo sweet spot between disco and electro, Metric proctors a wiry, rump-shaking house piece that wears its name right on its sleeve. “Freeek” blurs the line between a boisterous hunker-down-low and toe crush like it hurts to stand still kind of cut and a funky, after-hours primed dance groove.
