Skrillex teases new Habstrakt collaboration at Coachella [Video]
Saturday, April 22, Skrillex obtained the honor of becoming one of Coachella 2017’s most exciting special guests during his surprise closing performance at the Do LaB. As one would expect, the OWSLA label-head compiled his set from a catalogue of bass music, with several unreleased tracks thrown into the mix.
Among the forthcoming tunes captured from the unexpected Coachella set is “Chicken Soup,” a collaboration between Skrillex and French producer Habstrakt. Though the two artists haven’t released an original track iogether before, they’ve certainly given each other nods in the past; one of Habstrakt’s breakthrough moments came in 2014 when he released his remix to Skrillex & Diplo’s “Dirty Vibe,” while the LA bass music influencer has oft included selections from the French artist in his sets – including a formidable, longstanding melange of “Habby9000” with “Make It Bun Dem.”
For “Chicken Soup,” Skrillex and Habstrakt opt for a bass house direction, calling upon the French producer’s rare knack for creating melodic layers which shine through copious amounts of gain. Watch Skrillex play out the track at the Do LaB in the video below:
