Authorities rule Avicii’s death free from ‘criminal suspicion’

Upon post-mortem examinations of 28-year-old international superstar, Avicii, Omani authorities said they found no evidence of “criminal suspicion” tied to his death.

The Swedish artist, real name Tim Bergling, was vacationing in Oman’s capital, Muscat, where he was found dead Friday. While no cause of death has yet been released, Bergling was open about his health struggles, which eventually led to his retirement from touring.

Bergling’s unexpected death has prompted prodigious support and commemorative reactions from both fans and fellow EDM pioneers, including Tiësto, Calvin Harris, Martin Garrix, and countless more.

A serial Grammy nominee and creator of universally revered tracks like “Levels” and “Wake Me Up,” Avicii was among the most profoundly catalytic forces in the progressive house movement.

Thousands of fans gathered Saturday afternoon in his hometown Stockholm to remember the fallen icon.
