Thanks to its collaborators, Jet Horns and Soft Jaws, “Threw You” taps into the insatiable emotive vein that’s running through post-EDM and the genre’s hip-hop crossover. Doleful male vocals lend comparisons to Post Malone, “But it’s still a pleasure talking to you/ Even though the knife in the back, ” and penultimate verses are drawn out with reverb, “Stabbing straight through.” Stinging listeners with its relatable sadness and rumbling bass resolution, “Threw You” begs repetition, if not for catharsis’ sake, than for its commanding production forte.
