Anderson .Paak taps Kendrick Lamar for funky, must-listen hip-hop heater, ‘Tints,’ off upcoming ‘Oxnard’ LP

Anderson .Paak has set the music world ablaze with the release of his groove-filled new single, “Tints,” featuring Kendrick Lamar. Produced by Om’Mas Keith alongside .Paak himself, the track glides through sultry guitar chords, a funky bass line, and authentic hip hop percussion. Lamar’s voice dances alongside the bass line, setting up for the hook sprinkled with dissident horns and a harmony between the two rappers’ voices.

“Tints” serves as the lead single from .Paak’s upcoming album, Oxnard, set to be released off Dr. Dre‘s Aftermath Entertainment, exclusively distributed by 12 Tone Music. Dr. Dre is reportedly the executive-producer on the project, and J. Cole and Pusha-T are said to be other featured artists off the LP.

This new output doesn’t mark .Paak and Lamar’s first joint effort with Dr. Dre. In 2015, the two rappers were featured on the iconic producer’s Compton track, “Deep Water.” Additionally, in early 2018, Kendrick featured .Paak on “Bloody Waters” off KDOT’s curated soundtrack, Black Panther: The Album.
